About Cherry

Singing guitarist

Verified profile
I sing and play a range of acoustic covers solo and in a duo, trio and full band. Looking for gigs and dep work.

Cherry plays a mixture of pop, rock, ska and motown covers both acoustically and in a full electric band. Her acoustic act is available as a trio, duo and she also performs solo. Cherry has been in bands since she was the age of 15 but has become even more popular now she has started playing acoustically. She has a powerful rock voice with an extensive range but can also sing a variety of styles ranging from soft ballads to blues. She also performs as a duo with Ste Ryder who is a very talented professional bass player who plays upright bass when playing in the duo. Her acoustic act can also be booked as a trio which includes Stu Cowley on second guitar and backing vocals as well. Although they play acoustic music they keep the mood very lively and get the crowd dancing. They can also adapt to a more toned down environment and play as background music if needed. Cherry is now available to book as a full electric band too, they play a range of Pop, Rock, Ska and Motown covers and they really do get the party going. They are a five piece with vocals, guitar, bass, saxophone and drums. They provide all of their own sound and lighting equipment. Cherry Valentine is very well known in the Manchester music scene, as well as a musician she also runs her own promotions and tour booking company

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just keep me informed of any changes, the sooner I know the better, I always try to be flexible with adjustments.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can indeed, happy to provide music before I start and in between sets for free, if you'd like a DJ set afterwards it costs a small extra fee.

How much time do you need to set up?

When solo, it just takes me about 30 mins to set up and sound check. Can play music in the background while I am doing this. When I am with the full band it can take up to an hour and a half

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yeah if there are songs you definitely want me to play then sure let me know which ones. Also let me know any that you would prefer I didn't play.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

If required I can bring all of my own sound and lighting equipment

Can you learn song requests before the event?

I can indeed, just give me enough notice and I will. If its a song I can use for other events then I am happy to learn it for no extra fee, however if its a song that is a bit more obscure or won't be suitable for future sets then a fee may be charged.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They love the power of my voice and how upbeat I am. Really good at getting a crowd singing along and dancing. I've also been told they love the eclectic mix of songs I do.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Oh wow, too many to mention, I've been doing this professionally for years so I have played most of the wedding venues in Cheshire now, I am pretty well known around the Manchester music scene with residencies at Fab and Flour and Flagon plus residency at The Book in West Derby, Liverpool. I am playing lots of festivals this year too!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love Pink, Guns n Roses, Aretha Franklin, Cyndi Lauper, Queen, Blondie and loads more.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Solo my biggest performances I would say were at Cambridge Junction for the Gin and Pizza Festival which was too a sold out crowd of 800 people. I also played the Foodies Festival at Tatton Park last year with my bassist supporting Toploader,

The Bees Knees were amazing, a highlight of the day for me. They played the best songs and I was so impressed with their version of Etta James ‘At Last’ it was such a beautiful moment for me and my husband. Everyone said they were amazing and the venue were singing their praises too. Can’t wait to find a reason to book them again.

AMAZING!! This band were absolutely incredible. We picked the Bees Knees because of Lauren’s voice and their varied set list. They exceeded all expectations and kept our wedding dancing all night. All the guests said what an amazing band we had and they really helped make our wedding so wonderful. They happily learnt our first dance song and even played requests from guests. I can not recommend this band enough and 5 stars doesn’t seem to do them justice. Thank you Bees Knees!!
