Charlotte Pawley is a soprano based in Cardiff and is currently studying for her MMus in Vocal Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Elizabeth Atherton. In 2022, she has most recently performed with the Oxford Alternative Orchestra in Ernst Krenek's 'Der Diktator' (Charlotte). She has enjoyed performing in several productions with the Oxford Opera Society, including 'A Feast in Time of Plague' (concert soloist and chorus), and previously in Orfeo ed Euridice (Amore), and their 2020 opera scenes, in which she sang a variety of roles from the Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro) to Marguerite (Faust). She has enjoyed performing twice with The People's Opera, covering the role of Donna Elvira and singing in the chorus for their production of Don Giovanni, and performing as a member of the chorus in Eugene Onegin. She has performed with the Cumbria Opera Group as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and as Cupid in Venus and Adonis. Charlotte has also performed in musical theatre, playing Vanderdendur in Barricade Arts' production of Candide in The Playhouse Theatre in Oxford. In concert Charlotte has performed as a featured soloist with the Newbury Symphony Orchestra, St Hilda's College Choir and University College Choir performing a wide array of repertoire including Vaughan Williams’ Pastoral Symphony and Mass in G minor, Faure's Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria. She also premiered the role of Begu, a nun in ‘St Hilda of Whitby: A Cantata’ by Nicola LeFanu for St Hilda's 125th Anniversary celebrations. In recital, Charlotte has performed at the Jacqueline du Pre auditorium in their lunchtime series, and as part of the New Chamber Opera series, as well as in Christ Church Cathedral. Charlotte has been a member of several ensembles in Oxford, including the Arcadian Singers, St Hilda's College Choir (where she was a music scholar) and the University College Choir, as a choral bursar. She has performed with the Martlet Voices consort, and the Korrigan Consort. Charlotte is a founding member of Le Voci, a women’s choir directed by Jo Williamson and competed with this ensemble to great success at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
