Lottie is a 21-year-old trumpeter living in Cardiff, where she is studying a Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is currently in her third year, having received a scholarship and bursary for her first year of study. She has performed with many of the university's ensembles, including both the brass band and wind orchestra, in addition to several REPCO ensembles and her own quintet. In 2014 she also performed in costume as a clown in the RWCMD's puppet production 'The Impossible Fair'. She has enjoyed performing in both ensembles and as a soloist on many occasions, including performances in the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The NIA (Birmingham), St David's Hall (Cardiff) and the Motorpoint Arena (Cardiff). Taking up the cornet initially at age 6, Lottie quickly developed a passion for music, also beginning piano tuition the following year. At age 11, she was amongst 25,000 applicants and one of only 40 selected to participate in the re-recording the famous 'Blue Peter' theme tune, working closely with composer Murray Gold and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Following the initial recording session in Manchester, the ensemble was then invited to perform at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall. Lottie went on to win an orchestral scholarship at Hereford Sixth Form College, where she had the privilege of performing Haydn's Trumpet Concerto with the Academia Musica Orchestra in Hereford Cathedral. Lottie is currently receiving brass tuition from the principle trumpet with the Welsh National Opera, Dean Wright, and has formerly been taught by Philippe Schartz (co-principle of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales) in Cardiff and Steve Lee in Malvern, her hometown. She enjoys playing a wide variety of music, from Baroque to Contemporary, however her true love lies in musical theatre, and she has recently joined the London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
