Charlotte Walker has just finished her MMus course, studying the cello at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with Ursula Smith. During her time at GSMD she has played in a wide range of orchestral projects, including film music, musical theatre and opera, and she has performed in the barbican centre with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. Charlotte also enjoys playing the baroque cello with different groups in London. As well as this, she also has experience playing electric and acoustic cello at weddings and functions in the UK and France. Charlotte’s passion is playing in Chamber ensembles and plays in a string quartet as well as a piano trio who have both worked with members of the Endellion Quartet and the Heath Quartet. She enjoys running workshops in schools, focusing on making music accessible to children. She teaches for a variety of music teaching agency including Ruby Music school and Fireworks Music School. Before joining GSMD, Charlotte spent two year studying at Royal Norther College of Music with Victoria Simonsen She was involved in a performance of Spem in Alium by Thomas Tallis arranged for forty cellos, which was recorded and filmed by classic FM. Another highlight was performing in a chamber orchestra for the RNCM production of the opera Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck. In 2018, Charlotte was invited to be the Young Artist at Aboyne Cello Festival. This role has given her the opportunity to put on many recitals and is looking forward to getting back to performing properly again soon.
