We are a collective of experienced, enthusiastic, energising jazz musicians and dancers based in Brighton. We have been gigging professionally for years with many varying different groups of contrasting genres, including jazz, funk, soul, function, reggae, ska, rock, pop, and many more. We have played a variety of events, venues, stages and festivals, from the sweet pubs of Brighton, to Rock Oyster festival supporting Nile Rodgers and Chic, to romantic weddings, private parties and professional cooperate events. Many of us are teachers and events managers outside of performance and graduated from music degrees 9-24 years ago. Music and performance energises us all, creating the unique, wonderful relationship between audiences and each other. There is no better way we can spread our passion and joy than through music. We can offer live acts from two to six or even more musicians, featuring Flugelhorn, Saxophone, Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Double Bass and/or Drums. We can also offer interactive swing dance lessons as part of the act.

Charlie "Chaz" Miller is a rising star of the Brighton swing and jazz scene. A natural musician, bordering on brilliant, impressive indeed for one who hasn't yet seen 30 summers. His grasp of the nuances of jazz standards and the Great American Songbook has made him one of my favourite artists. I’ve enjoyed watching him develop and blossom at a frankly astonishing rate. If he’s in a lineup I know it’s going to be a gig worth going to and the customers of the venues I handle A&R for are learning this too. I’m currently working on a new project to create a band to plough some uncharted furrows. Inspired by the genre crossing choices I pick for my DJ sets, I’m looking to create a similar vibe with a live act. Chaz was one of the musicians I had in my sights for the lineup and I was delighted when he agreed to be a part of this venture. I’m excited to see where he’s going to help me take it. We have been delighted by the atmosphere and joy that Charlie and Jarrod have brought to events we've hosted. They're both charismatic musicians who read the room perfectly, playing in a way that energiesies the atmosphere yet doesn't dominate. We've used them for outdoor and indoor events which they've adapted to brilliantly and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients highlight our connection with the audience and each other as musicians. We provide an engaging show for all to enjoy, with everyone getting involved, dancing, singing along and unavoidably mood lifting.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My playing is influenced by Flugelhorn players with soft, warm and tasteful technique, including Chet Baker and Andrea Motis.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes, this vocalist will be the first call if she is available for a three or four piece lineup. Otherwise, I will book another vocalist from my large network of established professional musicians.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, the lineup is flexible according to clients’ preferences and can include saxophone, female vocals, drums, piano and double bass. Flugelhorn/Cornet/Trumpet/Vocals and Guitar are part of any lineup by default.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please contact us at your earliest convenience and we will make things work.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Certainly; we offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £100 per hour.

How much time do you need to set up?

We typically set up about 1 to 2 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely, we like to personalise the experience to clients’ preferences, so requests are welcome within reason.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, but we will always require access to power.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £50 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
