The band were fantastic! Everyone at the party absolutely loved them and they got everyone up dancing - my favourite quote from one of the attendees was "Never enjoyed dancing before, until tonight!" so they really drew everyone in. They were quick to respond to messages before the event, and on the day itself they were really happy to make sure that the ceilidh worked well around everything else that was going on. Thank you for making it a great evening!

A lovely customer, and a delightful village hall. All of the attendees were friendly and welcoming, and they enjoyed the dancing so much we carried 0n later than the scheduled finish time!

Thank you so much for playing at our wedding. You were all excellent! A first dance song request but also a choreography had been prepared especially for us which was above and beyond what we expected. Everyone had a great time :)

It was fed back to me by the client that the band performed well and got people dancing. However when they arrived they asked for the dance floor in the tipi to be removed as it was a trip hazard, it wasn’t, it had been installed correctly. This caused some unnecessary stress for the staff working the event and took them from their posts while they had to remove the dance floor, which I then had to explain to the tipi company which could of caused issues with the deposit paid. They also asked for 4 chairs, which then had to be located and brought to the tipi, I’d asked them a few days before the event if there was anything else they needed and nothing was mentioned, might not seem like a big deal but had this been mentioned prior to the event everything would of been in place and not disrupted the party in anyway. I trusted encore to vet the bands they promote, this isn’t really acceptable, disrupting a party they way the did.

Wonderful. The band were amazing, everyone said how good they were. They were there ahead of time, very low maintenance and relaxed! Hassle free yet professional. Will definitely book again for my next fundraiser. Thanks guys

We just wanted to drop you a quick email to say thank you so much for the amazing music you played at our wedding on Saturday. All of our guests had an absolutely brilliant time and we have had so much positive feedback about the ceilidh. It was so so much fun we loved every second! Cat’s Claw Ceilidh Band's Song list

Traditional and modern tunes from anywhere we can get them-Wales, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, America....you name it, we play it....

We can provide specific evenings of Scottish, Irish, English, Welsh or American dances and tunes if that's what you's prefer instead of a mix...just ask! Ceilidhs, barn dances, hoedowns, twmpaths - they're all enormous fun. You just need to see the huge grins on everyone's faces to see that they're enjoying themselves, and that makes it fun for us as well!

Customer questions

Can you perform covers?

We prefer to concentrate on what we do best so we don't normally perform covers, though we're always happy to learn a specific tune for a first dance, for example...

Do you have different line-up options?

Our standard line-up is melodeon, fiddle, flute and guitar...and of course the dance caller. We can also add a bodhran/drummer for larger venues. There is also an option of a smaller two or three piece band with caller for smaller venues; the line up for this would be negotiable.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Usually this is no problem - once you've confirmed a booking with us it's in our diaries, so we can adjust times to suit you. We'll be as flexible as we can, so we can always alter timings in the run up to the day.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

As far as using the PA with aniPod/phone/tablet is concerned, we’re happy to play your own music for a first dance or in an interval.

How much time do you need to set up?

We have a very compact modern PA system, so setting up only takes about 20 minutes. We always aim to arrive about an hour beforehand - we like to be a bit early as I find that it puts people’s minds at rest to know that we’re there and ready to go as soon as the venue can have the space ready for us to set up.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, we do! Our caller will explain each dance and keep talking you through the steps after the music starts.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We can provide evenings of Scottish, Irish, English, Welsh or American dances and tunes if that's what you's prefer instead of a mix...just ask! We're happy to discuss doing specific tunes/dances as well, like Strip the Willow, Dashing White Sergeant, Gay Gordons etc....

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

All the band, the sound system, an experienced caller, and a great evening’s entertainment are included in our quotes! We arrive in plenty of time to get set up, so it’s stress-free for you too!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We're happy to discuss learnng specific tunes...just ask us!
