Cathy Tsang

Recalling just how cool it was to carry her Chanel flute bag to school, Hong Kong-born flautist Cathy Tsang started learning the instrument at a young age. Since then, Cathy has graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and then went on, with scholarship support, to obtain her Masters and Diploma in Orchestral Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her orchestral experience ranges from performances with the Welsh National Opera, the Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv Orchestra, and Bath Opera, right up until her recent and highly rewarding appearances at the Marylebone Music Festival and Cadogan Hall with the Orion Orchestra, where she took stage alongside guitarist Leonardo Patrick and broadcaster Sue Perkins, as well as performing with violinist Danny Koo at Cadogan Hall. After Cathy made her debut at Weill Recital Hall in New York following her First Prize win at the Golden Classical Music Awards, she has regularly presented recitals across the UK and Hong Kong, and this year she has been selected by the Professional Development Scheme to study alongside players in U.K. orchestras. Outside of her prolific life as a freelancer in London, Cathy still craves her Hong Hong-style pineapple buns as much as enjoying a round of golf, her newfound passion.
