Casa de Bamba

Casa de Bamba are a Bristol based band playing traditional samba along with other Brazilian styles. At the heart of the music is the cavaquinho, a small 4 stringed instrument, and the 7-string guitar, these are joined by voices and traditional percussion (pandeiro, tam-tam, conga, berimbau, agogo, cuica, shakers, triangle etc.). Playing classic songs from artists such as Cartola, Zeca Pagodinho, Clara Nunes and Martinho da Vila, the band has performed extensively in Bristol and now opening up to the rest of the South of England. Casa de Bamba are a collective of 6 musicians sharing a love for Brazilian music and culture, all having lived or spent time in Brazil, and also playing in a variety of Bristol bands including Bloco B (Samba Batucada), Afon Sistema (Maracatu) and Clube do Choro (Choro), Combining the technical intricacies, infectious rhythms and soulful inclusivity of samba, Casa de Bamba will bring the flavour of Brazil straight to you.
