I am a classical singer with many years of experience performing as a soloist for concerts, festivals and galas as well as for private events such as weddings, funerals, parties and more. I have a very wide repertoire for clients to choose from, and although I specialise in classical and operatic repertoire I'm open to singing songs and pieces from other genres too. My extensive performance and event experience guarantees peace of mind for each client that I work with, and my passion for music comes across in every performance! Here's my formal biography: Caroline started singing after graduating from Durham University with a degree in music specialising in composition. Her operatic roles have since included the title role of Tosca for Heritage Opera; Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte) for Opera UK and Birmingham Chamber Orchestra; Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte) for British Youth Opera and Surrey Opera; Clorinda (La Cenerentola) and Adina (L'elisir d'amore) for Vox Lirika, Tatyana (Eugene Onegin) for Birmingham Chamber Opera and Gilda (cover) (Rigoletto) for Heritage Opera. She played the Lace Seller (Death in Venice) in the Aldeburgh Festival, directed by Yoshi Oida; a role she also performed at the Bregenz Festival where she also appeared as the ZDF Director and Airport Officer in Benedict Mason's Playing Away, directed by David Pountney. As a concert performer Caroline has sung in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as in performances on BBC Radio 3. She has sung as a soloist in venues internationally performing works including Brahms' Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Mahler's Symphony No.4, Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate, Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Messiah, Schubert's Magnificat and Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder. As a session singer Caroline has sung with the BBC Singers, London Voices, RSVP Voices and Conventus and is now also a session performer online, recording her voice and compositions for clients around the world. Caroline and her husband Darren perform internationally together as the duo Trovatori. She has received coaching from David Syrus, Mary King, Anthony Legge and Donald Maxwell and continues her vocal studies with Arwel Treharne Morgan.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They love the extra element that a live performance brings to their event - there's nothing like the human voice to move people, whether it's a concert, party, wedding or a funeral. Clients have commented on my versatility as I can offer a wide repertoire for any occasion. I'm also very personable and love chatting with people before and after a performance!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, BBC Maida Vale Studios, Abbey Road Studios

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I have an eclectic taste in music! Classically I love to listen to Angela Gheorghiu, Leontyne Price, Maria Callas and Birgitte Nielsen among others. When it comes to more contemporary music I love female singer-songwriters such as Kate Bush, Bjork and Tori Amos.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Performing as the soprano soloist in Brahms' Requiem at Birmingham Symphony Hall! I've also performed at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Orchestra, and this year I'm singing at the Royal Festival Hall with the Philharmonia Orchestra as part of London Voices.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'll do my best to accommodate any changes to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I can provide an iPod service between sets if desired.

How much time do you need to set up?

If performing acoustically I will only need 10-15 minutes to get set up; if performing with PA I will need 20-30 minutes to set up my equipment and perform a sound check.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely - clients are welcome to pick any of the pieces they would like to hear from my song list. Otherwise I'm happy to put together an appropriate set list based on my years of experience performing at different events.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes - I usually perform without PA for classical concerts, recitals and church events. However I can provide a small PA system (for up to 200 guests) to perform at larger venues and events.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Of course - if it's something that I'll be able to sing then I'm happy to learn any specific song requests for an additional £30 per song (to account for my learning and rehearsal times, etc.).

Caroline was fantastic, wow, so impressed, please don't hesitate, you won't be sorry, I don't like to use the phase value for money but she far out stripped my expectations, she should be charging £1000's, she was so friendly and sorted everything out with the vicar and organist, my Dad would have loved her but as she sang like an angel maybe he did.
