Caroline's Biography: Caroline started singing after graduating from Durham University with a degree in music specialising in composition. Encouraged by her first teacher, Norman Welsby, to pursue a singing career she attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance Studies from the University of London. At the same time she gained performance experience singing chorus and small roles for Southgate Opera and Opera Holland Park. Her operatic roles have since included the title role of Tosca for Heritage Opera; Fiordiligi Cosi fan Tutte for Opera UK and Birmingham Chamber Orchestra; Queen of the Night Die Zauberflöte for British Youth Opera and Surrey Opera; Clorinda La Cenerentola and Adina L'elisir d'amore for Vox Lirika, Tatyana Eugene Onegin for Birmingham Chamber Orchestra; Gilda (cover) Rigoletto, Countess Ceprano Rigoletto and Flora La Traviata for Heritage Opera; as well as the role of Jane in the world premiere of John Whittaker’s The Three Wayfarers with Opera Anywhere. She also played the Lace Seller Death in Venice in the Aldeburgh Festival, directed Yoshi Oida - a role she went on to perform at the Bregenz Festival where she also appeared as the ZDF Director and Airport Officer in Benedict Mason's Playing Away, directed by David Pountney. A regular concert performer, Caroline has sung in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and St John's, Smith Square as well as in performances on BBC Radio 3. She has performed as a soloist in venues internationally performing works including Brahms' Requiem, Mahler's Symphony No.4, Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate, Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Schubert's Magnificat and Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder. As a session singer Caroline has sung with the BBC Singers, RSVP Voices and Conventus in concerts and recordings. She now appears regularly with Darren Clarke as the duo Trovatori. Caroline has received coaching from David Syrus, Mary King, Anthony Legge, Donald Maxwell, Lada Valešová, Steven Maughan and continues her vocal studies with Arwel Treharne Morgan. Trovatori's Biography: Trovatori are soprano and tenor duo Darren and Caroline Clarke who combine the power and beauty of classically trained voices with the intimacy of acoustic guitars. Trovatori is Italian for wandering minstrels, which is the perfect job description for Darren and Caroline as they share a passion for travelling and singing, discovering music that they can present to audiences worldwide. Their travel is not just geographical - they love to journey through musical time and retrieve some of the best songs from centuries past up to the present day, as well as writing their own! They explore different genres of music including opera and classical, art song, music theatre, folk, ballads and film themes. From performing with full orchestra or band to providing their own accompaniment on guitars, Trovatori's talents take them all over the world, performing both on land at international venues and at sea as headline entertainers on cruise ships. Having met performing at the renowned Bregenz Festival in Austria, Darren and Caroline have performed across Europe, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. In the UK performances include the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and St John's, Smith Square as well as performing live in concert on BBC Radio 3. In the UK they also enjoy performing at music festivals, theatres and churches as well as at corporate and private events. In 2015 Trovatori released their album, "Songs from here, there and everywhere", featuring many of their favourite songs and duets, all arranged with just their guitars for accompaniment.
