Classical Karaoke is where the joy of a karaoke night meets the magic of live classical performance. Founded and produced by Liverpool-based violinist Taz Duval, the project brings together a live string quartet and an enthusiastic audience for an evening that’s as heartfelt as it is high energy. It’s not about perfection, it’s about connection and having a good time. Each Classical Karaoke event reimagines the songs everyone loves, from ABBA to Florence and the Machine, Stevie Wonder to The Killers. All arranged for strings and played with cinematic flair. The audience are the lead singers, the strings provide the lush, live soundtrack, and together they create something both familiar and completely new. What makes Classical Karaoke special is the atmosphere. There’s a sense of play, of shared nostalgia and unfiltered joy. It’s as comfortable in a concert hall as it is in a bar or community space, blurring the boundaries between “classical” and “popular” music. Everyone is invited to take part voices joining together, surrounded by the warmth of a live quartet. The idea grew out of Taz’s work as a performer and creative producer, constantly seeking new ways to make string music feel alive, social, and accessible. After years of performing across classical and contemporary settings, Taz realised that the moments audiences remember most are the ones they feel part of. Classical Karaoke transforms that idea into a full-scale event where the orchestra meets the crowd halfway, and every song becomes a shared performance. Past setlists have included timeless favourites like Sir Duke, I Will Survive, and Dancing Queen, alongside newer anthems like Die With a Smile, Pink Pony Club, and Please Please Please. Each track is carefully arranged to celebrate the power of strings from sweeping, emotional textures to the irresistible groove of pizzicato rhythms. More than just a gig, Classical Karaoke is a celebration of community and collective expression.
