About Buddy & Holly

Acoustic duo playing all the hits of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Elvis, The Beatles, and more...
Acoustic duo
Birmingham
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Buddy & Holly bring you beautiful songs from the 50s and 60s sung in their own unique blend of humour and pitch-perfect harmony. They each have decades of performing experience under their belts and make their intricate harmonies sound effortless. Buddy & Holly perform live to acoustic guitar with harmonica and hand percussion. Some examples of songs Buddy & Holly love to perform are: Return To Sender - Elvis, Wake Up Little Susie - Everly Brothers, That'll Be The Day - Buddy Holly, Sealed WIth A Kiss - Brian Hyland, Can't Get Used To Losing You - Andy Williams. They also perform jazz standards in a style reminiscent of the The Ink Spots, with rhythm guitar and backing vocals, as well as Buddy's deep voice ringing out the spoken sections like a church bell! Buddy & Holly also have a wide repertoire of more upbeat songs from the era that they perform to backing tracks if required, such as Quando, Quando, Quando, Can't Take My EYes Off You, Save The Last Dance For Me, I Got You Babe and many more For those seeking a larger ensemble, their trio line-up includes virtuoso jazz pianist Richard Hughes, adding an extra layer of musical sophistication to our performances. They also collaborate with jazz band The Debonairs to add double-bass and drums for a full band.

Buddy & Holly were everything we'd hoped for. My Nan is a huge Everly Brothers fan and she was delighted with Buddy & Holly's harmonies and overall performance. They were really responsive and happy to do everything they could to make my Nan's 90th birthday really special. I would definitely book them again.

They were perfect - their music was excellent in terms of choice and performance, and just right for the occasion. And they were easy to work with. I would certainly choose them for a similar occasion in the future.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our harmonies. Our voices blend beautifully and make such a beautiful sound together! We also sing lots of songs that other people don't, great songs that everyone knows and loves, but not very contemporary!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Birmingham Symphony Hall and ICC Silverstone Race Track Cheltenham Race Course UK Bugatti Club Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market Lilleshall National Sport Centre

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Everly Brothers Buddy Holly The Beatles Elvis Presley Sam Cooke Ella Fitzgerald Louis Armstrong Dean Martin Frank Sinatra Nancy Sinatra Michael Buble Edith Piaf Robbie Williams Bobby Darin

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We performed as the warm-up act for a run of theatre shows all over the country - singing 50s songs in harmony to audiences of up to 2,000 - before the main Rock n Roll Revue came on stage.

Do you have different line-up options?

We can also perform as a trio with our regular pianist, or with as a four or five piece with double-bass and drums

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We try to book only one gig per day, this means we can be flexible. Please get in touch if any of your requirements change as we will usually be able to accommodate!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. We can always supply suitable background music. We can even bring along disco lights and the big PA system from our function band if you wanted us to run a laptop disco after our performance? This would cost approx £150 extra though due to the extra equpt and later finish.

How much time do you need to set up?

It depends, but if we're performing as a duo we'd need about 20 minutes. If you need us to be set up and sound checked by a certain time, please just let us know though and we will try to accommodate this.

Can you roam around while you perform?

It depends, but if we're performing as a duo we'd need about 20 minutes. If you need us to be set up and sound checked by a certain time, please just let us know though and we will try to accommodate this.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes of course. I would suggest you allow us some wiggle room though. We have a lot of experience of knowing which songs go down well with different types of crowds. Although it can be nice to hear your personal favourites, it's also good to keep the crowd happy if possible!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes. Please give us an idea of the size of the room, number of guests etc so that we can judge which kit would be most suitable.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We're happy to learn a song or two. Please let us know if you have any requests that don't appear on our song list. We'll let you know if it sounds feasible and if there would be any extra charge.
