Bridget Tomlinson was born into a family of musicians, her mother being a cellist and her Great-Grandfather a composer. Already an accomplished cellist, Bridget started to take singing seriously aged 16, and by age 18 she had passed her Dip ABRSM. In 2012 Bridget was awarded a choral scholarship to Durham University where in addition to singing with her college chapel choir she sang Cleopatra in Handel’s Julio Cesare in ‘Opera Scenes’ (2013), was cast as the Queen of the Night in the university’s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (2014) and performed Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2015) In summer 2015, Bridget was invited by Durham University to perform with the famous baritone Sir Thomas Allen at the Van Mildert College’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. Bridget has sung oratorio, and her performances have included soprano solos in Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Rutter’s Requiem, and Vivaldi’s Gloria. She currently a choral scholar at St. Chad’s Cathedral and St Philip’s Cathedral, and has given several charity concerts in local churches. As well as Classical Singing, Bridget enjoys Musical Theatre, having often sung in her University Cabaret shows and with the Amateur Dramatics Company, Festival Arts in the Summer Months. Since Graduating, Bridget has been actively working within the Education Sector. She has worked as a Private Vocal Coach and a Music Practitioner for several local Primary Schools. She is passionate about development within the arts and unlocking talent in those with low self esteem.
