Havant

Brent Hutchinson More Born 22nd August 1975 in Portsmouth, Hampshire in the United Kingdom into a typical 70s working class family. First living in Havant Town, Brent’s family soon moved to Hayling Island when he was 6 years old. At this point Brent was already a music student studying piano and achieved a grade five in high school. At the age of 13 Brent made some new friends who all played guitar and they encouraged him to have a go. There was no turning back and the piano was soon traded for a cheap Gibson 335 copy and a small transistor amp. The next few years was a wonderful experience of discovering the great blues and rock players of his and past generations. Completely self-taught Brent learnt from Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore, Robbin Ford, Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Robin Trower and so many other great guitarists. It was not long before his skills where at a level good enough to be the lead guitar player in his first band at just 15 years old, Red House Blues Band was formed. This did not venture out of the warehouse they practiced in but provided him with the valuable experience of playing in a traditional “Jam Band” Brent Married Tracy Williams in 1995 and soon had a son of his own born April 1996 followed quickly by a daughter in August 1997. So a full time job was needed, actually a full time job and several part time jobs. Brent has always had a strong work ethic and despite hardly ever being home and working day and night he still played in bands and eventually a duo called Double Cream that played up to 6 times a week in local bars and working men’s clubs. Later following in his father’s footsteps, Painting and Decorating became the daytime work but years of dusty building sites took its toll on Brent’s health and in 2008 he became very Ill with severe asthma and other breathing complications a condition he still battles with today. This did not stop him though and being forced to pursue another career path he decided to follow his dream of becoming a full time musician. In 2009 Brent studied a HND in Music Performance at South Downs College and then a teaching degree at Portsmouth University. Brent realised that it was important to be the lead singer as well as the main lead guitarist and worked hard developing his vocal skills. He is regarded as a very competent singer despite his limitations with his breathing. Brent began performing his solo acoustic shows in venues all over the country which he still does today as well as playing in two Power Trio’s Planet Graffiti and The Offenders. After completing his degree Brent was offered a teaching role at South Downs College and for a short time taught guitar workshops and wrote and recorded two albums with his band Planet Graffiti. This band enjoyed two U.K. Tours with American Blues Rockers Billy Walton Band and have shared the stage with amazing artists such as Hamilton Loomis, Danny Bryant, Ryan McGarvey, Rob Tognoni and many more. The Band Split in 2014 and now Brent is out under his own name working full time as a solo acoustic performer and in his own power trio. There is an acoustic E.P. out called This Is Me Now Produced by Gary Shaw and a Collection of full band tracks soon to be released produced by Gary Shaw and Lloyd Hinshelwood. The band is already starting to get attention with a superb review in April 2016 edition of Blues in Britain and a very well received performance in Support of Rob Tognoni. The band have been invited to Support Rebecca Downes at Club V and future shows for Pete Feenstra. Brent and the band are working hard to get the recognition they deserve and want to be touring Europe and the U.S.A in the future.
