The Brandon Village Ceilidh band is James Delarre on fiddle, Alex Goldsmith on melodeon and Elie Rees on guitar with Andy Mussell on the mic teaching the dances. James and Alex have headlined most of the major UK folk festivals in their band 'Mawkin' and Elie regularly tours solo as a singer songwriter as well as playing folk music. Andy is one of the best callers around, he's trained in theatre and knows how to put on a show, make the party feel comfortable and get everyone dancing together. All the members of the Brandon Village Band have been playing ceilidhs in a variety of line ups for many years and have formed this line up to create a really high quality ceilidh band for the East Anglia region now they are all living in the area. The band brings their own PA and sets up themselves. We find the best format for most events is 2 sets of music and dancing at around 45 minutes each with a short break in between but we are happy to fit around your plans. Customer questions

Can you perform covers?

We can perform standard folk tunes on request. Also we have a list of pop/ country and folk songs we can include. Please set Elie Rees song list for list of available covers.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line up includes a caller, fiddle player, guitarist and accordion.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We can try our best to accommodate you. Usually this will not be a problem but if we have another booking on the same day the change in timings may prevent us reaching the other gig in which case we wouldn't be able to. Otherwise, we totally understand things can change when planning an event and just give as much notice as you can.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes we can plus a phone in. We prefer you to supply a playlist but we have our own as well.

How much time do you need to set up?

We arrive an hour before we are due to start playing and it takes us about half an hour to set up. We need to park as close as possible to the stage to unload/ reload the van and can move the vehicle after this if needed.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, always.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We play a broad mix of traditional music for the ceilidhs. We will usually tailor the exact tune choices on the night to fit with the ability of the dancers so we prefer to choose our own tunes. However, we often get requests for some well known tunes ahead of the gig which we can include.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

Yes full PAT tested PA is provided.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We don't usually learn particular tunes, often we will already know them. There is a singer in the band who can learn one song for you if you wish. They will need enough notice to have time to practise your song.
