Boyan Ivanov is an experienced London based freelance clarinetist and teacher, and an active solo, chamber music and orchestral performer.

Boyan Ivanov was born in Yambol, Bulgaria, and is one of the most promising Bulgarian clarinettists today. He has already performed as a soloist, chamber or orchestral musician at many prestigious venues including Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Cadogan Hall, Kings Place, St John’s Smith Square, St James’s Piccadilly among others. In 2010 he was awarded his Master’s Degree from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he was Principal Clarinet of the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. In the same year Boyan won the prestigious Making Music Philip & Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists, as part of which he was invited to be a soloist of Dulwich and Warwickshire Symphony Orchestras. In 2013 he gave an exciting performance of Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with King’s College London Chamber Orchestra, and performed for first time at the Wigmore Hall as part of the Chamber Tots programme. In 2014 Boyan participated in the “Celebrating Jon Lord” Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, together with the rock legends Deep Purple, and a few months later took part in the “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” UK Tour with Rick Wakeman. In 2016 he appeared as a soloist with the Aldwych Sinfonia, playing Copland’s Clarinet Concerto unconducted. Boyan played at the prestigious ceremony of the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2017 in London as part of the Pan-Armenian Symphony Orchestra, which was broadcast live on the Medici.tv and Classic FM. In April 2018, Boyan was invited to perform in two concerts as part of the Music Festival “Golden Diana” in his hometown Yambol, Bulgaria: a recital with Taiwanese-French pianist Lysianne Chen, and soloist in the world famous Bulgarian kaval player Theodosii Spasov’s Double Concerto for Kaval, Clarinet and Symphony Orchestra, alongside the legendary kaval player himself. Most recently, Mr. Ivanov just returned from China where he was touring with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra (Bulgaria) and performed Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622 thirteen times as one of the soloists of the tour. Currently Boyan is an active solo and chamber music performer, giving recitals for several music societies across UK and his native country Bulgaria. Since 2012 he is a regular Classical Guest Entertainer aboard Cunard, P&O, Fred Olsen and Saga cruise ships. Since 2016 Boyan Ivanov is holding the positions of Principle Clarinet and Orchestra Manager with Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra.

Was brilliant and stepped in at the last minute. He communicated well and I had full confidence that he would turn up and know what to do even though I'd never et him before. He played well and was a pleasure to work with!
