Bluebird Jazz

We are well-versed in jazz, Latin, bossa nova, rock, pop and funk music, and can play from a vast catalogue of tunes in these styles. Our standard line-up consists of piano, double bass and drums. We can add vocals, saxophone, trumpet or additional musicians on request. New Zealand-born pianist Rob Brockway studied at the Guildhall School of Music, emerging onto the London jazz scene in 2012 and performing with Henry Lowther, Mark Nightingale and Alan Barnes, as well as with his own trio at the City of London Festival and on BBC Radio 3. He is a regular sideman for trumpeter Sean Gibbs, with whom he has featured on two albums for Ubuntu Music. Sandy Brown Jazz credits him with ‘that indefinable charismatic playing that has the ability to move you’. Born in Poland, based in London, Jakub Cywiński is a double bass player and composer who currently explores his interest in collaborating with various contemporary composers and jazz musicians such as Ola Onabule, Marco Marconi , Partikel, Duncan Eagles Quartet among others… He studied double bass as a postgraduate at the Royal College of Music. His varied freelance career has taken him to India, Russia, Lebanon and other places around the world. Born in Denmark, Daniel Israelsen is a London-based drummer, composer and educator. In 2014 he graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, earning an MMus degree prior to which he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama obtaining a 1st class degree. During his studies he played in projects that featured Stan Sulzmann, John Surman, John Warren and Gareth Lockrane.
Since then he has established himself on the scene and self-published two drum books. As an artist he has performed in a wide variety of settings, including leading his own bands. Through Daniel’s extensive learning he has had the privilege of studying with Anders Mogensen, Morten Lund, Kresten Osgood, Andrew Bain, Ralph Salmins, Trevor Tomkins, Gene Calderazzo and Dave Wickins. Daniel has performed at Barbican Centre, Charlie Wrights, Oliver’s Jazz bar, The Vortex, Pizza Express in Soho, Union Chapel, Jamboree, IKLECTIC, Verdict Jazz Club, Brasserie Zédel, Upstairs at the Ritzy and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
