I’m Big Mama Funk (BMF) - a singer and entertainer! My absolute favourite thing to do is make your event unforgettable! Whether it's with BMF Solo, one of my tribute acts or with my band, The Funkstars, I'll guarantee to provide you with classics like Aretha’s “Respect”, Luther’s “Never Too Much”, Michael’s “Rock with You”, Bruno’s “Uptown Funk” and more! I’ll make your journey to your big day as smooth and hassle free as possible by: liaising with your key contacts, dealing with all the sound and lighting requirements (including providing a microphone for speeches), providing background or live music for your meal, drinks reception etc., performing that special first dance, and tailoring my service to your needs. And the best bit is - I've been doing this for almost two decades - for many happy couples, special occasions and corporate companies like Tesco, Spire Healthcare and Waitrose. You will find me in all venue types in the UK and internationally. My band sizes typically range from 5 to 11 pieces, although smaller sizes are also available.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Absolutely! Big Mama Funk is fronted by myself, Big Mama Funk! Having said that, if myself or any of my other funky colleagues become poorly before the event I have many fantastic musicians on hand who can step and deliver an equally groovy night for you!

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes we do! I can perform solo for you with backing tracks, all the way up to a 12-piece band with additional singers and full brass section. Let us know what you require and we'll build the perfect outfit for you.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem! Let us and know and it's highly likely it will be perfectly fine. Any significant changes may incur additional cost, but we are always aware that timings can be slightly fluid on the big day!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We include this as standard before, between and after sets (typically while setting up and packing away), but we can also extend this for an extra fee. Let us know what you need and we'll work something out!

How much time do you need to set up?

90mins is the ideal minimum for any band size with the full PA system. Smaller outfits (solo to quartet) would likely be somewhere between 45mins to 1hr.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, absolutely, although it's sometimes better to let us know which songs you'd prefer NOT to hear. We've built the set to enable us to follow the vibe of the dancefloor and keep guests entertained, so like to have flexibility to play the songs which are going to make the party memorable for being the best ever!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

It most certainly is! All PA and lights will come to every event we perform. If we're to play a large venue (200+ guests), then it's possible we may need to hire additional equipment, but let us know and we'll work something out!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

You bet we can! First dances, favourite songs... just let us know! We will need advance notice, and we'll need to confirm it's possible with time and instrumentation in advance, but it's very rare it can't be done!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Big Mama Funk is renowned for keeping the dance floor full! Once we get started the floor gets full and stays that way!

We've played many luxury hotels and venues including The Grove, Cliveden House, The Royal Bath Hotel, St.Michael's Manor and more!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Performing at an open-air festival in Italy has certainly been one of the highlights!
