Acoustic duo

We learnt to jam together when we were 10 years old and have never stopped since. From entering music competitions, playing at local pubs, clubs and festivals, to touring a new city for University and getting onto the main stages at festivals! We have gone through the learning phases together the whole way! Learning to be on stage, to speak in front of crowds and to play our music together- all the while being 11 and 12 years old! 14 years on and we think we may have gotten some sort of hang of it! We host open mic nights, we encourage so many budding musicians to get up and give it a go, and we absolutely love jamming together! We have similar music tastes and also completely opposite music tastes, so our sets cover a range of genres. We write our own stuff together. There’s nobody that knows the other more, so when writing songs about our experiences, we’ve got two sets of opinions to input into the piece. Our Dad comes from a rock and roll background and our Mum comes from a choir and brass band background. We have had an unreal amount of influences when it comes to our music. We’re so lucky to come from such a musical family! From them giving us our first guitar and drum kit, and progressing onto many (MANY) different kinds of guitars and learning how to play a cajon. Although we have put so much effort and hard work into our music, we did want to get our degrees too. Molly has a BA Honours degree in French and Italian with TESOL and an MA in linguistics. Lucy has a BA honours degree in Education with Psychology and Counselling and an MSc in Psychology. Music is where our hearts are though. We play out instruments together and we harmonise. There’s something about the way we communicate through music. We know each other inside out when it comes to playing live. We play the likes of folk, pop, rock and indie covers and originals. We like to be experimental and we love to push ourselves. We have learnt songs in Hindi and Bengali for Refugee Service events, the Mela Festival and the Bangladesh Awards. We first started learning these languages at University when we joined the Indian Society and sang with them for the Sheffield Hallam Festival. It opened a whole new level of music for us! We love to play the big events with lots of people, of course! But we also love those small intimate, unplugged gigs where we can really meet the owners and people of the venue. Jamming together is a huge part of our lives!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up between 30 and 45 minutes. As soon as the PA is set up, we can provide a free playlist service to liven the atmosphere and get your guests ready for the live performance!

Can you roam around while you perform?

Molly can if we are playing an acoustic set, otherwise we remain stationary on the stage.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are created from many performances and learning what works the best for all kinds of audiences and events. We are happy to chat through some ideas and also take on some requests.

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If there is a special song you’d like us to learn, we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for 2 songs for this service, to take into account rehearsal times etc.
