About Bex

I do covers, mostly easy listening/jazz. I like to do relaxed retro tributes:Carpenters, Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield, Mama Cass, Blondie
Singer
Milton Keynes

My singing style is mostly retro pop, jazz, jazz fusion, folk, soft rock and ballads but I like to do relaxed retro tributes: Nina Simone, Billie Holliday, Carpenters, Dusty Springfield, Blondie, Mama Cass, alongside all the other genre covers. I am well versed in rock/ soft rock, Blues, Jazz, Swing Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Blue-eyed Soul, Latin, Boogaloo, Folk, Lounge, Chill, Sophistipop, Soul , Blue-eyed Soul, Funk, Trip-hop, Pop, certain Classical pieces and a little bit of Americana/ Pop-rock and a very small amount of Reggae, Motown, Ska. And I do Christmas lists and am very experienced in Christmas music from my concerts. I am open to requests with these genres and will do just about anything provided it is retro. My contemporary repertoire is limited ( 2000 to present) - , Adele, Amy Winehouse, Jessie J. Tom Grennan etc. I am well versed in 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s ( and 90s Electronic/dance anthems), pop mixes and genre mixes. ( This may be good for Retirement homes with different ages.) Some of my routines will have medleys. Restaurant/bars can include Jazz/ jazz fusion, easy lit and Latin.. Weddings can include jazz/ swing Jazz/ Bossa Nova/ folk mixtures with, for example, Billie Holliday, fairground Attraction,Matt Monroe, Dixie Cups etc and can include more classical songs as desired. I can do corporate functions and funerals . Funerals can include classics. I prefer 4-3 weeks notice and will cancel offers 14 days beforehand, if not taken. I am happy to play with a covers band that suits the listed artists. For tributes,I always dress up and try to recreate the image/ mannerisms of the artist. Requested dress codes are ok. I use backing tracks faithful to the artists, and sometimes medleys. I can make announcements, interact as required, and, with tributes, intersperse with interesting information about the singers. I am just starting out in this field so functions that do not require extreme virtuosity would be a good fit to begin with. Areas covered are South East, Midlands, North West and North East. Functions can be pubs, clubs, restaurants, events, weddings/funerals, school fetes, corporates, church events, and parties. Nearby travel will just be included in fee, not separate fee. All planned songs will be discussed and thoroughly agreed to the client's satisfaction before going ahead. My Father was musical and I was mainly brought up on retro music. I am 50 myself, so combined, I have a lot of vintage music knowledge. I originally started singing semi professionally 10 years ago in commercial choirs, working up as a soloist. I learned a lot of stagecraft and gave concerts at Cadogan Hall and Brighton Dome. I did a lot of busking and used good responses to inform my repertoire. Please note, I do not sing in my own style so much as try to replicate the artists and their particular virtuosity. This is a particular reason why as much notice as possible is appreciated.
