Soprano, Bethan Thomas graduated from the University of York in 2012 with a First Class Honours degree in Music, and immediately undertook a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance, from which she graduated in 2013 with Distinction. Whilst studying in York, Bethan was active as a soloist and choral singer and was also a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the Rodolfus Choir, Spectrum, The Ebor Singers, Yorkshire Bach Choir and Yorkshire Baroque Soloists with whom she recently recorded the early version of Bach’s St Matthew Passion released on Signum records. She has recently completed her second year as a scholar for the Esterhazy Singers and was pleased to be involved in the appointment of their new musical director for the 2016-2017 season. For the past five years she has worked for the Girls’ Choir of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain as a section leader helping to train future musicians and being involved in recordings, music videos and stage management of large scale events. Recent performances include Parry’s ‘Songs of Farewell’ in the Brandenburg Festival with London based consort Musici, solo in Rachmaninov’s Vespers with the Esterhazy Singers and solos in Fulham and Hammersmith Choral Society‘s performance of Handel’s Dixit Dominus. Bethan is a deputy in a number of London and Surrey churches including St Bartholomew the great, West Smithfield and St James, New Malden and sings with Cardiff, York and London based chamber choirs such as In Spiritu, Blossom Street and Musici.
