Berking Mad Ceilidh Band

Berking Mad has been together as a ceilidh band for nearly twenty years. Beyond that, all members have been involved with various ceilidh bands for most of their long lives. Dave has been calling for over forty years and is considered a very considerate and dancer friendly caller. Mike has played melodeon all over the country and abroad most of his life and comes from a musical background. Gerry is an accomplished guitarist and singer and has also played in ceilidh bands in the past. All members are folk singers in their own right and so can bring an element of variety to the night and thus ensuring a good time for all participants. Dave believes ceilidhs should be fun and not workshops. So making mistakes and getting it wrong is all part of a dancer's fun. The band has £5milion Public liability, PAT tested PA. We all have a great sense of humour and always get an audience involved. The extensive repertoire includes very simple dances to quite complicated, slow and easy to fast and vigorous to cater for all abilities and ages. The band has performed all over the North East from York to Berwick and as far West as Carlisle. In their time covering Weddings, wakes, birthdays, corporate events, Burn's suppers, even welcoming the torch to Gateshead where we met a descendant of Cushy Butterfield, supposedly. Any event will be considered and catered for.
