Benjamin Chewter is a freelance concert organist and piano/organ/music theory teacher based in Elephant and Castle, London. He formerly held posts as Assistant Director of Music at Chester Cathedral, Assistant Organist at Lincoln Cathedral and Organ Scholarships at Westminster Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral, and graduated from Cambridge University where he read Music and held the Organ Scholarship at Emmanuel College. His teachers have included Dame Gillian Weir and Stephen Farr (organ repertoire), David Briggs (organ improvisation) and John Thwaites, Julian Jacobson and the late John Forster (piano). Benjamin is available for tuition in piano, organ and music theory from Monday to Saturday throughout the week, and is able to teach all levels from beginner to diploma level, £40 per hour (£20 for half an hour). He is able to travel within a ten-mile radius of Elephant and Castle for teaching, and internationally for recitals and concerts. DBS held.
