Benjamin Pollock is a freelance/soloist horn player, composer and artist based in London. He has a particular interest in chamber music and explorative mediums/practices within performance. Benjamin first picked up the horn at the age of seven. At thirteen, he began his studies at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester. From his studies here, Benjamin was able to utilise the subsequent opportunities to perform in various ensembles across Europe, at the BBC Proms and for Queen Elizabeth II. More recently, Benjamin has completed his Bachelors Degree in musical performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Here, he studied with several world renown horn performers including Jeffrey Bryant, Richard Bissill, Jonathan Lipton, Chris Parkes, and Alec Frank-Gemmill. Recent highlight projects and performances include the Philip Glass: BBC Total Immersion project - performed and live broadcast on BBC3 from Milton Court Concert Hall. A collaborative performance of Roxanna Panufnik and Richard Stilgoe’s The Upside Down Sailor – a work based on the experiences of explorer Tony Bullimore, portrayed by actor Robert Pugh, performed for Tony Bullimore himself, Prince Edward and patrons at the Rose Theatre, Kingston. A performance of Benjamin Britten's Canticle III: Still Falls the Rain at The St. Marylebone Festival. Benjamin has also staged the first of a series of his own upcoming collaborative performing art works at the Etcetera Theatre, Camden in which he explores the relationship between audience and performer through different performance mediums and settings.
