I am a very experienced professional musician, with a background in all genres of music as a singer, pianist, arranger and composer.
Ben began his musical training as a boy chorister in the world-famous professional choir at St Johns, Cambridge, where he was lucky enough to tour and record internationally several times a year. He was a major music scholar at Eton College, focused on singing, cello and piano, and has performed professionally in choirs and orchestras as well as working in music theatre. He studied singing and cello at the Conservatoire National in Montpellier, France. In his twenties he gravitated towards the pop and rock world, signing to cult ‘Britpop’ label Fierce Panda with his first guitar band, with which he toured with the likes of Keane and Kaiser Chiefs. After development deals with labels including Warner and BMG, he signed as a solo artist with Twenty-First Artists, playing venues and festivals all over the UK and recording at most of the leading London studios. In 2008 he supported Elton John at his New Year’s Eve show at the O2 Arena. He has a publishing deal with Rocket Music Publishing as a songwriter and occasionally produces/mixes for bands and solo artists. Alongside his teaching, Ben works with several youth music and theatre groups as musical director and voice coach. As a private teacher, as well as at Manchester Grammar School and Fallibroome Academy, Macclesfield, he teaches over 50 students a week, of all ages and experience. He is an accomplished rehearsal and exam accompanist, and has also written for the Trinity music exam syllabus.
