IF THERE’S SOMETHING YOU’D LIKE US TO LEARN FOR YOUR EVENT JUST ASK - we can play ANYTHING
What do your clients love most about your performances?
We are an exciting rock band playing chart hits of the 70s & the 60s so they sound like the original. We were there at the time. We’re the real thing (in fact I once supported The Real Thing!) If you want one of those function bands wearing cheap matching suits, shiny shoes and a girl in a short cocktail dress out front, we’re not for you.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
A selection of memorable gigs: Birmingham town Hall, Derby Town Hall, Holmforth Town Hall, Malvern Winter Gardens, Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, University of Kent, University of Sussex, Warwick University. Famous music venues: Half Moon Putney, Golden Lion Fulham, The Greyhound Islington, JBs Dudley, Band on the Wall Manchester, many festivals. . .
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
Everybody. Sinatra to Santana. People we’ve supported include: Lindesfarne, The Real Thing, Cheap Trick, Georgie Fame and Blue Flames, Frankie Miller, The Steve Gibbons Band, The Pretenders, UB40, The Tom Robinson Band, Dr Feelgood . . . As we have mentioned, ‘We were there at the time”,
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
A few: Headlining the Bradford World Music Festival playing in front of thousands. Headlining at various Town Hall gigs. Opening for The Pretenders. Supporting Georgie Fame at Barbarellas in Birmingham illegally as I was 15 years old! The Cambridge Folk Festival. A few National BBC TV &radio shows. John Peel used to play one of us on vinyl.
Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?
Yes of course - please read our biography here. We are ex-pro recording artists from the 70s. If you want to know more: who we used to be and who we are now, then we are easily found with a net search for - below the border rock band But please book through Encore
Do you have different line-up options?
No, same band every time. We are ex pro recording artists from the 70s. Our fee is incongruously cheap because we have no interest in the money. We quit the music business professionally decades ago. We formed this exceptional rock band for the joy of playing our favourite hits from the 70s & 60s to make mature audiences dance, whoop and hollah!
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
Fine. We’ve done too many miles as professionals back in the day to sweat the small stuff now! We don’t do this for a living anymore, but we’ve always gigged; playing venues from town halls to small music pubs, from exclusive parties to big-stage festivals. We’re relaxed, highly educated and easygoing. Just ask for what you need and we will listen loudly.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Yep. We don’t have a DJ service but have met enough of them over the years to recommend you one that you’ll like if you tell us what you want. Happy to select an iPod play-list with you. We’ve produced albums. We know music.
How much time do you need to set up?
One hour. We have a state of the art PA but our back line amplifiers and our guitars are vintage - because they SOUND better. Authentic. Consequently we can set up and sound check without fuss - just like the old days! We are happy to plan set up and sound check around your party arrangements, just tell us what you need
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Good God no! We’re doing this simply for the joy of playing OUR favourite hits from the best musical decade of the century. We have over 160 years performance experience between us. Our show is carefully constructed. Your guests will shout for more. They always do., But we will learn your favourite song if you want.
Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?
Yes of course. Our instruments are nearly as old as we are. Worth tens of thousands. We’ve been doing this a long time. We prefer not to lug around lighting rigs but we can provide such if you want.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Yes this happens all the time. We have an enormous amount of professional performing and recording experience. Our lead guitarist does Hendrix and Clapton solos note for note perfect, so so we can play ANYTHING. Recent songs we’ve learned by request include: Light My Fire, You Shook Me All Night Long, Layla, Radar Love, Fox On the Run.

Private Party and Corporate engagements4 musicians
We are old ex pro recording artists from the 70s, Our fee is incongruously cheap because we don’t play for the money these days. We formed this band solely for the joy we derive from playing the classic rock songs from the charts in the 70s, performing the soundtrack of our youth to audiences who dance, whoop and holler for a great old rock band of exceptional musicians. Some of us appear on albums on original vinyl - yes we really are that old. We left the music business 4 decades ago for grown-up careers. We don’t need the money. We do this for us, for the music and would rather pick and choose our engagements. We only tip out once or twice a month. You’ll find us easy going, down to earth, lots of fun, highly educated, road-worn and very friendly We will play for the NHS for FREE.
