About Barnaby

Background guitar music for different occasions & settings.

Guitarist

London

I am a London based guitarist. I first started playing because my dad played guitar. He taught a bit about finger picking. I also learnt things off a few other people, as well as teaching things to myself. I decided to do the classical guitar grades, so switched from playing steel guitar to classical/nylon strung guitars. After completing the grade 8 ABRSM classical guitar grades, I decided I wanted to learn new things, and eventually discovered a wonderful Flamenco guitarist who I began to study Flamenco guitar with. I continue to see him. So I play a mix of classical & Flamenco techniques. I enjoy playing melodies and soft tones, with a rhythmic drive, and creating an ambient atmosphere without being obtrusive.

Barnaby's Reviews

"Calming and melodic. I enjoyed how the guitar sounds were unobtrusive yet added to the atmosphere and experience of the party."

"Blended very well into the background whilst we enjoyed our merry picnic on a sunny day."

Customer questions

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Regent Street cinema lobby/bar.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem. Just message me about the change and I can accommodate it.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

No.

How much time do you need to set up?

At least 30 minutes, to check the sound and get use to the environment, especially if it is a place I’ve not played in before. It is a good idea to make sure the volume is right for the occasion and space.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, I’d be happy to play any specific things that you think may work best for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. I have my own classical/spanish guitar and an amplifier that I can carry.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

It depends on how much time there is between the request and the date of the gig, and what the piece/s are. Just ask and I’ll be honest.
