Tired of hearing the same covers everywhere? Hi! I'm BATRES and I've been a singer and performing musician for over 15 years. I'm originally from Mexico but now I've been based in Edinburgh Scotland for 8 years and I've been loving it! I started playing in original bands (mostly rock and metal) and then, I started learning some acoustic covers to focus on my singing and that's when it all happened, I realised I enjoyed a lot playing covers by myself. It doesn't matter the style of music, my mission is always to come up with my own version. Over the years I've played for all sorts of audiences, and my main goal is to bring a chilled and friendly vibe and whenever I have the chance, I try to make the audience part of the show. Outside of the UK, I've played in plenty of bars, restaurants and private events, and in Edinburgh I've played in pubs. I do know a few songs in Spanish just in case you'd like to mix it up a little bit!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I like to make my performances unique by playing songs that people know and love, but don't hear very often in other places.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

In Mexico I played in plenty of rock bars, restaurants, and private events, and in Edinburgh I played at "St. Andrews Brewing", "The Black Rose Tavern", "Home Bar", "Taco Libre Bar" and at private events.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

When I started to focus on my singing, some of the first covers I learned were from Sublime, Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley City and Colour and Foo Fighters, however my musical taste goes from metal to pop so at this stage of my musical journey, any artist can influence me and take me.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Back in Mexico I sang for a NIRVANA tribute band at a rock bar. The place was fully booked, we re created the "Unplugged" special from MTV and people loved it!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

That's fine! I understand that sometimes things can happen last minute. If my performance times change for the day you booked, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make make adjustments.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Of course! I can play some music to set the mood 20 minutes before I start and during my breaks.

How much time do you need to set up?

For small venues, it usually takes me up to 15 minutes. For bigger venues it could take me up to 30 minutes depending on the availability of the PA.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

No problem at all! All the songs in my list are songs I really enjoy playing and most important, they're songs the audience really like based on previous performances

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

For small venues yes, I do bring everything myself (Amp for vocals and guitar, electro acoustic guitar, guitar cable, guitar stand, microphone, microphone stand, microphone cable. For bigger venues, PA will have to be provided.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If you have a special request and the song is not on my song list, there's a chance I already know it. If there's a specific song you'd like me to play to make your event even more special then I'll be happy to do this for you. There will be a £15 fee for this service to take into account practice times, etc.
