Ashley Mason

Coming from a family of professors of music and piano technicians I started my musical education at the tender age of six. At ten years old I joined the cello section of the Gwynedd Môn Youth Symphony Orchestra under the tutorship of Heather Bills, herself an ex-pupil of the legendary Jacqueline du Pre and co-principal cellist of the renowned Hallé Orchestra. I studied piano with Elizabeth Ellis (ARCM, FRCM. Dip Advanced Performance RCM) in 2002 and passed ABRSM Grade 8 in 2004, a mere two and a half years after receiving my first piano lesson. I have performed and taught privately since 2004 and hold a Licentiate certificate in performance from Trinity College London. I have played regularly at functions and weddings throughout the North Wales and Cheshire areas since 2004, and often play at events as far afield as the South coast. I accompany vocalists (such as Only Men Aloud's Ben Smith, Bryn Terfel Scholarship 2011 / 2012 winner Huw Ynyr Evans, entrant Sian Crisp and singer / songwriter Donna Lea Morris) and instrumentalists for competitions, concerts, grade exams and studio recording sessions. I teach piano privately, tutoring pupils in a laid-back and friendly style entirely tailored to their needs. Pupils may choose to study for ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall graded examinations or just for fun, and I welcome beginners and refreshers alike. I will also tutor music theory in line with the Associated Board and Trinity's requirements. I also represent one half of the Telano Duo, a harp and piano duo who hope to bring a fresh approach to the classical repertoire.
