Ashleigh began playing piano at the age of 5 and violin at 7 and gained ABRSM Grade 8 in 2015 and 2013 respectively. She currently plays violin in the University of Aberdeen Symphony and Chamber orchestras, and will be going on tour with the Grampian Youth Orchestra in June this year. In the past Ashleigh has played with NYOS and the Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra, and will return as a tutor this year to AYO. In regards to piano, Ashleigh has had experience in accompanying school pupils for their SQA exams, and has also accompanied fellow students at the university for their recitals. Ashleigh has a strong passion for Scottish music and performs with the ceilidh band Rave Against the Haggis, who are made up of young musicians originally from Ellon, Aberdeenshire. She has also been a member of the Ythan Fiddlers since the age of 10. Ashleigh is currently in her 4th year of study at the University of Aberdeen on the BMus Education course with the ambition of becoming a secondary school music teacher. She currently teaches violin, viola and piano at the Chalmers Mackay Music School in Aberdeen, and works as a music centre assistant for Aberdeenshire Council. Ashleigh is also a part time organist at her local church and leads worship there once a month, along with performing violin in the church praise band "The Triple A's".
