Ariën De Beer

Ariën de Beer is a South African drummer and musician currently based in London. He is a versatile young player with a passion for great music. As a solid, groove player, he always aims to play for the song. He specialises in the genres of pop, rock and funk as well as being proficient in using Ableton and backing tracks to incorporate electronic elements into a live set. While working as a full-time graphic designer and animator in Johannesburg from 2009 - 2015, Ariën always aspired to spend more time drumming and making music. In 2015 he put a drumming presentation together and received the international scholarship from the renowned The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London to study the Higher Diploma course in Music Performance. Ariën joined the 2015-2016 cohort on a course that covered drum-specific training and technique, music theory, aural perception, reading studies, music business and music technology as well as live performances several times a week. During this time, early 2016, Ariën also joined a soul-pop band headed by Kitty Montague, a brilliant vocalist with an amazing voice. Ariën is also a BA Information Design graduate from the University of Pretoria (2005 -2008) with proficient conceptual skills and all-round graphic design, computer-generated graphics and animation capabilities. He worked in the broadcast design industry in Johannesburg for 6 years, winning numerous awards for his design work in this time. Ariën holds a South African and international driver’s license, and has his own essential drumming equipment ready.
