Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
I can adapt to a room and develop a good rapport with guests whilst playing. I'm comfortable sitting in the background creating ambience. I have a good ear so if I get requests I can usually perform these on the fly. On more that one occasion, what begins as a quiet evening ends in a mass sing along.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
I have played in hotels, churches, halls, stately homes, fields and castles all over the country. I have also performed in venues across Europe, America and China.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
I'm inspired by so much. I love pop music, from 50s - today. The piano is so versatile and I take a lot of pleasure in taking these songs and finding a way to arrange them for piano in a creative, fun and interesting way.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
I have performed multiple live sessions on BBC Radio 2. The O2 in London is the largest venue I've played.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I'm usually fairly flexible. Please not that I also perform in an evening function band. On peak days (weekends during the summer months) I only accept the booking on the assurance that I will be able to leave at an agreed time. This can be discussed prior to booking.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
I can provide recorded music, a spotify playlist or plug in a client's device to play the music through my speaker if required.
How much time do you need to set up?
Realistically only 30 minutes but I'll always arrive at least an hour before I'm due to perform.
If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?
I'm comfortable on any upright or grand piano. Please ensure before I arrive that the instrument has recently been tuned, the keys and the pedal work. The venue should be able to advise you of this.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Of course! Please understand that being piano arrangements, many of these songs work as mash ups, so although I have a long repertoire, over a 2 hour time period I will likely perform most of the songs listed.
Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?
Yes, I have a high quality Roland electric piano and 2 book shelf sized active speakers. This enables me to tuck away neatly into smaller sized venues. I also have a small 500w PA that I can bring for larger venues.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Yes I regularly take requests, often for the ceremony. These are within reason. I consider myself a competent musician but I will struggle to learn Rachmaninoff at a week's notice. ;o)
