Annex

Annex is a 4 piece jazz fusion band which formed in September 2015 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Toby Comeau attended Chetham’s school of music after living in Cornwall along with Joe lee who stayed in Cornwall for sixth form. Darcey Williams and Floyer Sydenham both attended Wells Cathedral School sixth form before gaining places at the Guildhall. All members are currently studying on the Guildhall’s BMus Jazz course, and have been part of many other groups, internal and external to the course itself. As a band they have taken a number of gigs over the past few months. They started with a couple of function events, received through friends and contacts within the band, an anniversary and wedding, for which they comprised a set of covers and arrangements. They subsequently received more job offers, and thought it best they start developing some original material. The band has begun to write original songs, one of which has been recorded, and have recently produced two new arrangements of tunes. Annex takes everyday pop tunes and adds a funky twist, combining jazzy chords, funky bass lines and foot tapping grooves. They provide a unique style amongst the world of function band music, whilst still holding onto that essential dance floor atmosphere !
