About Anna

Anna Wells is a singer-songwriter and self-accompanying musician with a mixed experience in live performing.
Singer
Epping
Public liability insurance of £10 million

I am a young singer-songwriter from North East London. A music graduate from King's College London and performing regularly through local gigs and open mic nights. My set usually comprises of vocals and instrument (guitar/keys) and sometimes a looper pedal for a fuller sound on more upbeat numbers. From my song list, it is evident that my repertoire is extensive from the 50s right through to now. My biggest influences and inspirations are Elvis, Dolly Parton, Carole King, Elton John, Karen Carpenter and Gary Barlow. I currently like Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, George Ezra, Katie Melua and Shakira. I really enjoy songwriting and hope that this continues to bloom whilst I increase my performance experience.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We will always try to be flexible and accommodating. If timing's change slightly in the run-up to the event then as much notice as possible would be appreciated and can be easily solved.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Definitely. This is a common FAQ and we would usually integrate this into the price, if requested. If you would like a playlist to run until the venue closes as well, we can provide this for an extra charge of £50. Song requests will try to be accommodated as much as possible.

How much time do you need to set up?

Set up for the solo part (keys/guitar, voice, PA) usually takes up to an hour (with sound check). As soon as set up is complete we can provide a free playlist service to build atmosphere for guests arriving, before our performance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Our set list is usually selected based on what we know works well for a range of audiences, for dancing, for listening and for chatting along to. However, we are more than happy to discuss any particular requests in enough time before the event!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes we do! I bring all my instruments and the PA system.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If the song you request isn't in our set list there might still be a chance we know it already. If there is a particular song you would like us to perform then we are happy to learn it for the occasion. There is a fee of £30 for this service to cover rehearsal times etc.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Feedback of performances often includes a mention of my vocal clarity and tone of voice. As well as this, audiences often comment on the variety of styles and eras that I cover in my set.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Brixton Academy, South London Stratford Festival, East London Royal Albert Hall, London Beacon Theatre, Broadway, NY The American Indian Cafe, Lanzarote The Cliffs Pavilion, Southend Beck Theatre, Hayes Marconi Social Club, Chelmsford

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My biggest influences (for performance) are Katie Melua, Olly Murs, Elton John, Carole King and Gloria Estefan. My biggest influences (for songwriting) are Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Elton John, Gary Barlow and Billy Joel.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The most high profile gig I have performed was at Brixton Academy, where I was invited to perform in front of 2,000 people as part of a London City Safe awareness event for young people. I performed a cover and an original and the atmosphere was amazing.

Retune L, 2 years ago

Anna Wells kicked off with a cover of Shotgun by George Ezra, which got the crowd on board right away. But it was her original compositions that really shone through; she has a very warm and welcoming vocal and a calming stage presence. It will be great to see where her songwriting takes her. She rounded off her set with You’ve Got A Friend by Carole King, and the Retune audience was in fine voice for the choruses.
