Originally from Krakow (Poland), Anita Kurowska is currently undertaking her postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Juan Miguel Hernandez.
She started her musical education at the age of 6 when she began playing violin in the class of Maria Brodzicka- Satora at the Music School in Krakow. At the age of 12 she was introduced to the viola which became her main focus and later her principal study at the Royal Academy of Music where she had studied with Garfield Jackson during her Bachelor Degree which she completed with honours in 2016.
In her early years she developed an interest in orchestral playing and participated in tours with CEI Youth Orchestra and Polish Youth Philharmonic (PMF). Her performance experience in London includes chamber music concerts with various ensembles such as Academy Chamber Ensemble where she worked and performed with Maxim Vengerov; Lecture Recital at St. Sepulchre as a part of Gresham recital series, Mozart series at RAM, concert with the Choir of St. Peter’s College in Oxford, recitals with harp ensembles at Vinehall School Music Society and Charlton House, Beethoven Septet performance at RAM and recently a concert with an Ensemble x.y. She has also taken part in Side-by-Side project with Orchestra of St. John’s, performances with Britten Sinfonia, participated in Royal Albert Hall project with Nicola Benedetti. She had performed under great conductors such as: Semyon Bychkov, Trevor Pinnock, Sir Mark Elder, Edward Gardner, Christian Thielemann, Robin Ticciati, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Christopher Warren Green and Lawrence Cummings. Anita has been awarded the Prime Minister of Poland Award, Margit & Benjamin Dale Award, Josephine Euler Award and Pro Bono Musicae Scholarship. Lately she discovered a great passion for historical performance and began studying baroque viola as a second study with Annette Isserlis. She had performed with the Academy Baroque Orchestra and Royal Academy of Music/ Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Series.
