Angharad Lyddon is from Wrexham, North Wales. She has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Royal Academy of Music and has just graduated from Royal Academy Opera, studying with Janice Chapman and Audrey Hyland. Angharad has been a soloist at cathedrals and concert halls around the country and abroad including a concert of Bach cantatas with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in Kristiansand, Norway, and concerts at Wigmore Hall. She is a member of Academy Song Circle and is a Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Scholar and soloist. As a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne in 2013 Angharad created the role of Panthea in Luke Styles’s opera Wakening Shadow and most recently covered Polinesso and the Alto in Trauernacht for Festival d'Aix en Provence and sang Olga (Eugene Onegin) for Opra Cymru. Roles for RAO include Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Baba the Turk (The Rake's Progress), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin), Madame de la Haltière (Cendrillon) and Polinesso (Ariodante). Opera scenes include Carmen (Carmen), 1st Maid (Elektra), Nancy (Albert Herring), Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice), Older Woman (Flight), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro). This May Angharad made her professional debut as Kate in Pirates of Penzance at ENO. Angharad is grateful for the generous support of the Sickle Foundation.
