I am a singer, guitarist and bass player, with 15 years experience playing live, recording and working with others in a professional environment. I’ve worked on cruise ships for a few years tribute bands and party bands. I’ve recorded guitar for artists on a few albums and also played their music live with them. I studied music at Chichester University for 6 years, in that time I started performing and recording, afterwards went on to form numerous bands of different genres, original and covers. I’ve worked in an orchestra pit on a few occasions, most notably productions of Joseph, Made in Dagenham and Calender Girls. I love working with great and talanted people who love music and art as much as me. I've worked in pubs, clubs and cruise ships, recorded with bands and have an extremely professional outfit of equipment that has me prepared for anything I'm called upon to do. I hired Andy for my mums 70th birthday & he was brilliant! Catered for a variety of ages & even took the time to learn some of mums favourites which were not on his playlist which he nailed! Would highly recommend!

I have both booked and recommended Andy Charles for multiple private events on the Isle of Wight. The events have included weddings, birthdays, and summer parties. Andy is excellent for playing whatever music is necessary for the event, from tunes that get people out on the dance floor, to more laid back ambient sets. He is a very gifted singer and spectacular guitarist. Will definitely be hiring him this summer!

Andy Charles is a superb guitarist and singer. He is extremely versatile and plays jazz, blues, soul and rock with equal aplomb. I have listened to his music for years and he continues to go from strength to strength. His playing makes me smile and puts me in my happy place.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The most comments I get are for my voice, people are very complimentary about that. Secondly my song choice, people tend to appreciate that I play some obscure songs that are very famous but not usually covered by artists, and perform them well.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Maybe 50 different pubs across the Isle of Wight and the South Coast. Performed for 4 years on cruise ships, Norwegian Epic, Encore, Joy and Spirit. Performed in a few theatres in orchestra pits and also at festivals including, Isle of Wight festival, Bestival, Rhythmtree and Wolverton Folk and Blues among others.

Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, John Martyn, Sting, Jamiroquai, The Beatles, Otis Redding.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I’ve performed at the Isle of Wight festival on 3 occasions.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Timings can be changed no problem within reason. A day before the performance, that would be a difficult time to bring the event forward depending on conflicting timetables and bookings.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes I absolutely can provide a playlist through my PA. If you let me know what kind of thing you’d like or if you’d like me to cater something for background, I can provide that service. And extra hour after the performance would be £50.

How much time do you need to set up?

I can set 20 minutes if needed, but 30 minutes is less rushed. I can provide background music if needed after I’m set up.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set list is a list of the songs I play most often, but I can play a song on request ahead of time for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely. I have a PA system that I use and all of the equipment needed for a gig.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

As said above, absolutely. Songs can be requested ahead of time for me to learn, that won’t be a problem.
