About Andrew

Violinist from Glasgow based in London with extensive professional experience, available for weddings and other functions.
Violinist
London

Hi! I'm Andrew and I'm a violinist based in London, originally from Glasgow. I can offer a wide range of repertoire to suit wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as other functions. I am also more than happy to source or arrange specific pieces of music to fit personal requests! I am a freelance violinist with a Masters degree in Violin Performance (with Distinction) from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. I am currently a Violin Fellow with Southbank Sinfonia, and have performed professionally with Manchester Camerata, Collegium Musicum 90, Manchester Concert Orchestra, Northern Chamber Orchestra and Manchester Baroque amongst others. During my postgraduate studies, I also performed with musicians from the Hallé, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Les Arts Florissants. I have extensive experience performing for weddings, proposals, funerals and other events, and pride myself on making each performance not only polished and professional, but sensitive and personal to you. As you will see from my setlist, besides playing classical music I also love to play pop, folk, rock and everything in between! I love to meet client requests and know that I am providing something special for you, so don't hesitate to let me know about your ideas.

Andrew played for my wife and I during our Wedding ceremony and drinks reception at Dundas Castle. He and his Cellist colleague played exceptional throughout and managed the ambiance well. I would highly recommend Andrew. He was very professional, and maintained high levels of confidence leading up to and during the event. Regards, Ryan.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will always aim to be flexible, to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event, just let me know and I'll be happy to discuss this with you.

How much time do you need to set up?

I don't need much set up time at all! I will normally arrive at least half an hour before I'm required so that I can introduce myself, check where I will be performing and make sure everything is in place.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course! Let me know anything you particularly want to hear (or particularly don't...) and I'll be more than happy to accommodate this.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes! I bring my own instrument(s) to play acoustically, my music and a music stand - this is normally all I need. If I am required to be amplified, I can bring a pick-up, but I don't personally have access to an amplifier.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes! I'm more than happy to discuss any requests you might have. My price guides include up to three song requests that aren't in my setlist. For short performances (up to 15 min), the price includes one song request.
