About Andrew

Violinist from Glasgow based in Manchester with extensive playing experience available for weddings and other functions.
Violinist
Manchester

Hi! I'm Andrew and I'm a Masters student at the Royal Northern College of Music, originally from Glasgow. I can offer a wide range of repertoire to suit both wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as other functions. I am also more than happy to source or arrange specific pieces of music to fit personal requests! Some info about me... I am a graduate of the Reid School of Music at the University of Edinburgh, where I was awarded a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours. During my time in Edinburgh I was also awarded the Sir Thomas Beecham Scholarship for Performance, and the Andrew Grant Bequest for the highest marked Final Recital. As well as leading the Universities of Scotland Symphony Orchestra and the Edinburgh University Symphony, String and Opera Orchestras, I have toured as a 1st Violinist with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, the Nevis Ensemble and the Berlin Opera Academy Chamber Orchestra. In 2019, I won the Edinburgh University Chamber Orchestra's Concerto Competition, leading to a performance of the Finzi Violin Concerto at the Reid Concert Hall with the ensemble. I have extensive experience performing for weddings, proposals, funerals and other events, and pride myself on making each performance not only polished and professional, but sensitive and personal to you.

Andrew played for my wife and I during our Wedding ceremony and drinks reception at Dundas Castle. He and his Cellist colleague played exceptional throughout and managed the ambiance well. I would highly recommend Andrew. He was very professional, and maintained high levels of confidence leading up to and during the event. Regards, Ryan.

There was a suitable lightness of touch on the articulation and also a clear sense of dynamic direction [...] the playing was full of elegance
