About Anastasia

Anastasia is a versatile and passionate violinist/teacher based in London with a mission to make classical music as accessible as possible.
Public liability insurance of £10 million

British violinist Anastasia Stahlmann is a versatile and passionate violinist and teacher based in London. Her mission is to make classical music accessible to as wide an audience as possible. She studied for her Master of Arts degree at Trinity Laban, gratefully supported by the Leverhulme Arts Trust, Trinity Laban Award, Dame Susan Morden, and Trinity College London scholarships, where she graduated with distinction in July 2020. Having begun studying the violin and piano, aged 5, Anastasia quickly progressed through the orchestras at her local music service. At the age of 16, she was accepted at the Junior Department of Trinity Laban, where she achieved her ATCL recital diploma and was presented with the Progress Award upon leaving. Subsequently, she continued studying at Trinity Laban as a scholar for her BMus degree with John Crawford and Clare Thompson, where she worked under the baton of some of the most prolific conductors such as Jessica Cottis, Diego Masson, and Gerry Cornelius. She graduated in 2018, achieving First Class Honours. Anastasia is a very experienced orchestral player. She has freelanced with orchestras across London and the UK, including London Young Sinfonia, Dorset Opera Festival Orchestra, and Lymington Classical Players. During her time at Trinity Laban, she has performed with many of the conservatoires main orchestras, such as the String Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Shapeshifter ensemble. She was chosen to play in masterclasses with Alexander Janiczek and Gary Levinson where she covered the Mendelssohn and Brahms violin concertos, and has received chamber coaching from the Piatti and Carducci quartets. Anastasia plays on a violin by Ben Conover (2011), kindly funded by the Wolfson Instrument Fund and EMI Music Sound Foundation.

Usually I won't need more than half an hour.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes - my violin is acoustic and I provide the equipment for any backing tracks.

We booked Anastasia last minute to play at our wedding when our original violinist dropped out, and she played a wonderful mix of songs for us. She was friendly and excellent with the kids when they asked her to play some Disney! 10/10 would recommend!
