About AnNnA

Professional String duo that journey through Classical, Folk, Film and Jazz
Classical duo
Greater London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

The two young musicians met in January 2018, as they started their fellowship with the Southbank Sinfonia. It was a year filled with excitement, where they both took part in numerous chamber and orchestral projects presented in spaces such as the Royal Festival Hall, Konzerthaus and throughout the Anghiari Festival in Italy. They played in every chair of their section, leading and following. Notably, Ana lead the orchestra in the Ligeti in Wonderland Festival, and made 2 educational videos to go with it, speaking about the Hungarian folk music tradition and the composers who drew inspiration from it. Later on, Anna acted as an ambassador for the orchestra in Berlin, where she introduced their debut concert in the Young Euro Classic Festival as well as leading the viola section through works by Beethoven, Mozart and Cheryl Frances-Hoad. They bonded through the many weeks spent making beautiful music together, and sharing the Italian sun in the summer. Citizens from the medieval town of Anghiari could often hear their duet ringing across the streets, playing jazz, swing, klezmer and classical gems. Back in London, they decided to pursue their common passion for chamber music and varied folk traditions together, today having played over 100 tunes from the Balkan, Klezmer, Swing, Jazz, Film and Pop worlds. The now, AnNnA’s are determined to continue inspiring and sharing their music with many new eager listeners.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We play mainly as a string duo with either 2 violins or a violin and a viola for those low juicy lines. On different occasions we play as a string trio (violin, viola, cello) or as a string quartet (2 violins, viola and cello).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We try our best to discuss the best possible timing arrangement. If timings happen to change we will gladly adapt, but would need prior notice.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Unfortunately, not yet.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually need about 1 to 1.5 hours to set up our equipment, change attire if needed and warmup to put forward the best versions of ourselves.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can move slightly when the music requires it, e.g. in the tango scene from Scent of a Woman, but do prefer to stay close, to better project the sound and create a friendly and unified atmosphere.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are a great reference point, and formed after much fun searching and playing at different occasions. We are more than happy to discuss any particular song request as well!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, everything is included.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song or piece is not included in our lists there is still a chance we know it. However we continuously add new tunes to our programs, and would be more than happy to hear your requests, but do require a 30£ fee which goes towards extra rehearsal time.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The passionate and strong sound that often brings the listener to tap their toes or shed a tear in more lyrical passages.

I loved having these two young musicians as part of Southbank Sinfonia last year.   They contributed with a lot of fresh ideas, humour and passion to our diverse concerts, and we enjoyed having them as part of the team.    Ana did a great job in the Ligeti in Wonderland Festival as part of our Family Concert, whilst Anna was incredibly professional presenting our debut concert in Berlin, as well as leading her section during the performance.     We have kept in touch, and I am very much looking forward to future collaborations.
