Amy is a professional soprano singer who studied with Alison Chamberlain and Anne Ward during her time of the University of Birmingham's Musical Faculty. She was also offered a choral scholarship to Merton College, University of Oxford. Some recent credits include: Edith in Pirates of Penzance, Tyne Theatre and Opera House, Soprano in Verdi's Requiem in Hall 1, Sage Gateshead, Soprano in Bach's St. Matthew Passion. She has also been a guest performer at the NSPCC Annual Gala Dinner and Bowel Cancer UK. Amy was also won Musician of the Year 2014 after her performance in St. John Smith Square, London of 'Dove Sono' from the Marriage of Figaro. Amy is qualified with a Diploma of the Associated Board of Royal School of Music with Distinction in Singing in July 2014. Amy is still training as an Opera Singer, with audiences lined up with Dame Janet Baker and Sir Thomas Allen. Amy has also got credits across multiple years of the Proms in London, performing at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. In addition to Amy's singing career, she is also working towards Licientate of Trinity College London in Clarinet and Saxophone. She is also Grade 8 Flautist, and is studying the Oboe. Hence, Amy is also seen performing around the region as a Professional Theatre Musician with some recent credits including Sister Act, Wizard of Oz, The Addams Family, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A Chorus Line, Annie, Fiddler of the Roof, Iolanthe, Pippin, Fame and Our House: to name only a selection. She is also due to take her ALCM Musical Theatre exam in July 2017. Amy is an accomplished Musical Director with various productions that have been rousing successes including Seussical the musical, Little Mermaid and several variety concerts. Currently, working on on Into the Woods, Dogfight and playing Mimi in La Boheme for Equilibrium Theatre Company as Musical Director. She is also the resident Musical Director for West End Operatic Society and Variety Youth Theatre Productions. Amy is also a vocal coach for a theatre company supporting pupils of a variety of levels in both classical and musical theatre disciplines and preparing them against the ABRSM and LCM syllabuses. She is currently working with the whole breadth of the theatre school of 70 pupils aged 4-16 in their production of Aladdin, supporting their development in healthy, characterful and ensemble singing. She is also a well accomplished vocal coach working with students on breath support, intonation, posture and healthy singing. Amy focuses her teaching with a key focus of developing the foundations of sustainable technique for students. To complement Amy's Musical Directing, she was trained by the Royal Shakespeare Company, having performed in the Merry Wives of Windsor as a child. She has carried the techniques she learnt through her operatic career and weaves this into her vocal teaching. Amy also has a very thorough knowledge of musical analysis and theoretical studies of music, focusing her teaching to support students in understanding not only the physical performance aspects but developing the foundations of musical theory implicitly through their singing development. Certified to ABRSM Grade 7 Theory, Amy is very confident in handling complex harmony, counterpoint and analysis to support students in preparing for higher level study and to challenge students in their understanding of a piece of music. In addition, Amy is competent in playing the piano for both demonstration purposes but also for accompaniment for students when preparing for examinations. With a personable approach, Amy has a very open nature that allows students to feel confident and comfortable working with her. With a 100% distinction rate for students in both ABRSM and LCM examinations for private pupils, she fully prepares students across all aspects including sight-reading and aural studies.
