"We hired the Howell String Quartet for our wedding back in May. They were fantastic - very professional and sounded great! Good repertoire including classical and pop covers, and they were really helpful in suggesting pieces for the ceremony. They even managed to put together a cover of the Cantina band song from Star Wars (our wedding was May the 4th...!) Would highly recommend them 😊

We booked the Howell String Quartet for our wedding ceremony and reception in July, and they were absolutely brilliant. From our first enquiry to the wedding day itself, they were very helpful, accommodated our musical requests and presented a selection of additional music from a variety of genres from which we could choose. They responded to messages quickly, which made planning the day that bit easier. I had written a piece for them to play for the arrival of the bride, which they performed flawlessly having only been given it on the day. Thanks for your brilliant performances!

Customer questions

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at Westminster Abbey, the Savoy Hotel, Bishopthorpe Palace and Merchant Taylor's Hall with my various quartets. With orchestras, I have performed in many venues, both in the UK and abroad, including St Mark's Basilica in Venice, Mantua Cathedral, Saffron Walden and the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall in York.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Performing at the Reception for the Installation of the Receiver General at Westminster Abbey in January 2019 was a particular highlight.

Do you have different line-up options?

Solo instrument.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I am happy to be flexible if given enough warning. Please do get in touch if there are any necessary changes.

How much time do you need to set up?

Set up takes around 10 minutes. Once set up, I can start playing whenever you would like!

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set list is crafted from various performances and learning what works best to ensure that guests have the best time possible. However, I am definitely happy to discuss any requests you may have, and will endeavour to incorporate these requests if possible.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Mostly! I will bring my instrument as well as music, a stand, and a spike holder. I will, however, require a chair to be provided.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

That is negotiable, provided enough warning is given. I am always willing to look into learning new music if you have a preference for something outside of the set list.
