About Alìnanína

Alìnanína is a dynamic new duo featuring Dublin multi-instrumentalists Emer and Etain Toale, performing beautiful traditional Irish music.
Celtic folk band
Dublin

Having played separately across Ireland, the UK, Germany, Poland and America, the sisters have set their sights on a joint venture – Alìnanína (Ealaín na nDaoine). Alìnanína draws most of their inspiration from traditional Irish music and song, blending strong rhythms with gentler motifs, while a background in classical music and an ample repertoire is their key to beautiful and engaging musical arrangements. Featuring a fusion of button accordion, harp, tin whistle, piano and voice, Alìnanína expertly alternate these instruments to create lively, expressive, captivating music.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-up is a duet, but with an array of instruments - vocals, piano, harp, accordion and tin whistle. If you have specific requests for other instruments (e.g. fiddle, guitar etc), please let us know and we can try to accommodate this for you.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please let us know of any changes to your initial requirements as soon as possible. We will always endeavour to make your needs work and change around our schedule as per your requirements, but if that isn't possible, we will discuss the options with you. The sooner you inform us, the sooner we can work out a solution.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Unfortunately, we don't offer a DJ service, but we can provide background music (Spotify) between sets if requested.

How much time do you need to set up?

Set up time varies from venue to venue and can depend on several factors e.g., what instruments we are required to play for your gig. Our music sounds lovely played acoustically, and if you have a small event, this option takes very little set-up. Using a PA will require a longer set-up and this will be discussed with you, in specific relation to your event.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Unfortunately not. The instruments we play require us to remain in the stage area. If you have a specific idea in mind, however, run it by us - maybe your idea might work!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, but our list is far from exhaustive. It is well known that traditional musicians have a very vast repertoire and we simply can't create a setlist of every song/tune we know. If you have specific requests, please inform us. The sooner we receive your request, the more likely we are to have time to learn it.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA is included in your quote IF you inform us that you require it - if you don't let us know in your initial enquiry, we may have to increase our price to include PA. Often, for a smaller crowd, a PA isn't required. Unfortunately, we don't have lighting equipment.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, provided we are given ample time. The sooner you send us your requests, the better we can learn your requests.
