Alex joined Hook Choral Society to sing the bass parts of Herod and Simeon in Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio. He was wonderful. His Herod was menacing and cold, and he sang the part of Simeon with such feeling and tenderness. The Nunc Dimittis was beautiful. We would be very happy to work with Alex in the future.

....the Butterworth ' Is my team ploughing' so moving and it was so beautifully sung. It's not just the voice but the performing abilities which make a Poulton recital so engaging! And exemplified to perfection of course in the encore ....

An unusual and highly professional presentation was given to a very enthusiastic audience in the Sidholme Music Room on Sunday afternoon. Both have distinguished performance careers. The programme started with a beautifully crafted set of three Schubert songs which enabled the audience to hear the range of Alex's fine voice. Mozart Opera was next; and Alex showed his natural acting ability and grasp of the music as he sang two of Papageno's amusing songs, using the whole space of the room. His diction in German was outstanding. ....The final songs by Ivor Novello and Noel Coward presented again with panache and humour.
