Alex trained at Coventry University, reading Music, Composition and Professional Practice, completing in 2007 with Honours. He studied his postgraduate lecturing qualification at Warwick University and for a diploma in Lighting Design for Theatre at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Alex is a skilled musician, trained in Piano, Organ, Drums & Percussion and Saxophones. He is also an 'Estill' trained vocal technician/coach. Alex is a highly competent, musical director, conductor and arranger. Alex's performance work has been extensive and varied. He has "MD'd" and performed in an extensive amount of Musical Theatre. Alex has worked in function/jazz bands and ensembles across the UK and Europe including cruises, theatre, pantomime and as an accompanist and repeteur. He has performed in vocal ensembles and choirs on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 4, Radio WM, Radio C&W, Heart FM and BBC’s 'Songs of Praise'. Recent credits includes Musical Director for Skate (West End), Cheltenham Festival, session musician for Madeline Bell (Blue Mink, Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker etc...) and her 50th Anniversary Album (and as pianist in her UK tour). As a session Musician (Drums) for RAF Proms, Pianist for Sister Act UK Tour, and as a Session Musician for the Boy George album ‘Canzone D’Amore’. Alex has lectured in Musical Theatre at Stratford upon Avon College for 10+ years and his responsibilities/duties at the college include; recruiting, auditioning, rehearsing and directing course students, selecting music, musicals, and organising, directing and budgeting performances on behalf of the college. Other activities on behalf of the college include; annual Musical Productions as Director and/or Musical Director, radio and television broadcasts including publicity and marketing, budgeting and contracting professional musicians and orchestras, production management for full scale theatrical productions internally and externally of the college, multiple musical arrangements and to lecture as a qualified lecturer in the FE sector. He has worked extensively as a session musician for a number of UK and US artists performing on Piano, Voice and Drums at prestigious venues including; Birmingham's Symphony Hall & Town Hall, Blackpool's 'The Grand Theatre', The Fairfield Hall, NEC, NIA, London's Festival Hall, BAFTA and the West End.
