About Alberto

Hi there! I'm Alberto Sousa, a Portuguese tenor living in London.
singer (Tenor)
Wimbledon

Before I copy paste my usual operatic bio, let me tell you a couple of things you may want to hire me for: Opera Galas - I'm a great entertainer, I sing all the tenor hits and I know all the opera gala ensembles (all the ST and TB duets, all the quartets) so if your tenor get sick, chances are I know the repertoire he was going to sing (except for G&S, I'd probably have to sightread it). I've a thorough ensemble repertoire list I can easily send out so drop me a line if you need it. Oratorio - Ive sung all the usual Italian oratorios (Petite Messe, Stabat Mater, Messa di Gloria and Verdi Req), plus a good deal of oratorios in English (Creation, Messiah, St. Paul) and all sort of Latin pieces (Mozart and Haydn masses, Bach Magnificat, Saint-Saens Christmas oratorio, etc...). I'm not be the ideal last minute replacement German stuff like a Bach Passions but, given enough time, I can do it. Do let me know if you want me full oratorio list. 3 Tenors - I'm the leader of a great 3 Tenor group (Tenorissimi!) and we have, ready to go, about 40 minutes worth of repertoire, all arranged for 3 voices in close harmony. We're great entertainers, we sing all the hits, we've done everything from singing waiters to more formal gigs and audiences love us. That's about it, really, now for my formal bio: Alberto Sousa was born in Madeira (Portugal), and graduated in Voice Teaching at University of Aveiro, studying with António Salgado. He was then accepted onto the GSMD Opera Course, where he studied with Laura Sarti. Alberto Sousa was born in Madeira, Portugal and, in 2013, graduated in the prestigious GSMD Opera Course, where he studied with Laura Sarti. As an alumnus of the Solti Te Kanawa Accademia di Bel Canto he recorded a CD of Italian songs produced by Richard Bonynge, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Sir Georg Solti’s birth. He is also the proud recipient of the Audience and Runner Up Prizes of the Fulham Opera Robert Presley Memorial Verdi Competition. The past two years have been excitingly international for Alberto, with a tour of Bel Canto recitals in Japan, La Traviata (Verdi) at the Barga Belcanto Festival (Italy), 3 European tours of Orlando Paladino (Haydn) with Purpur Opera and his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), performing Mozart's Requiem. Back in the UK, he has recently finished a national tour of Faust (Gounod) with Swansea City Opera, La Boheme (Puccini) with the Clapham Opera Festival and Simon Boccanegra with Fulham Opera. Future projects include a concert performance of Butterfly (Puccini) at the Cadogan Hall and covering the title role of The Nose (Shostakovich) at the Royal Opera House.
