London based Songbird Trio are sopranos Claire Egan, Carleen Ebbs, and mezzo Miranda Westcott, who met at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice, and formed subsequently while developing their careers in opera with companies including The Royal Opera, English National Opera and Welsh National Opera among others. As trained singers, they are maintaining their classical roots but delight in blurring the usual boundaries and conventions of a classical music aesthetic, to directly celebrate song. Songbird Trio create bespoke and thematic programmes, performing vocal music from unaccompanied chant, to French melodie, to close harmony, and unexpected arrangements of modern day hits with instrumentalists, and currently are particularly enjoying baroque and folk music.
