About Alan

Alan received his first guitar at the age of 4 and has never looked back. He works as a guitarist, singer and DJ both solo and with bands.

Alan grew up in Northern Ireland, picked up his first guitar at 4 years old and percussion a few years later. His formative years were spent playing classical, blues, jazz and rock n' roll. With a move to Lochaber and being inspired and heavily influenced by the music of the area, he has used this as a platform to develop his traditional style. He is equally comfortable both performing solo and with his ceilidh based band, Tartan Paint. His rhythmic accompaniment provides an injection of vibrant energy into the sound of the band. He provides vocals and never fails to please the crowd with the usual favourites. Alan is also an experienced DJ and has had a 4 year residency in the Skipinnish Ceilidh House. He is now a full time musician and during the day teaches his instruments and manages Tartan Paint.
