Alan Clarke

Hello! My name is Alan Clarke. I am from Belfast and I have been singing Jazz/Swing Music since I was thirteen. I fell in love with this music as soon as I heard Frank Sinatra sing New York, New York at my granny's house. Since then, my influences stem from my uncle and my grannies love of Opera, Jazz, Swing and Pop music. I am heavily influenced by Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Dean Martin and Michael Bublé. I started to sing along and listen to every CD these select few artists ever released and realized that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to sing this music with the respect it deserves. I started to take singing lessons from my uncle and this made my desire to be a singer increase the more lessons that I took with him. I started to compete in competitions around Belfast when I was sixteen as I felt my voice was ready to perform on stage. From this, I noticed it's hard singing swing music when you're up against other singers who are singing songs from the charts, but it has never stopped my love for singing this style of music, even if I didn't win a competition. After that competition it just made me want to better myself and my voice, so I went to college and gathered a much better understanding of music rather than just the voice. I have been singing in karaoke bars and whenever someone wants me to do a gig for them I'll do it, anywhere I can perform is experience. Recently, I have also been performing in a wedding band, however I have only been able to perform a small number of the songs I love so it has just cemented the fact that I want to pursue a solo career, and continue the legacy of my idols
