About Al O’Kane

Westcountry Gumbo from the Somerset Delta.
Singing guitarist
Shepton Mallet
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Al O'Kane blends swampy Avalonian blues into the sound of Celtic resistance rock n roll. A mix of his own creations and the occasional cover - Al aims to please and embrace his audiences. This is “West Country Gumbo from the Somerset Delta!” “His music is a cry for action nestled into a fiery acoustic blend” Davey Ray Moor (CousteauX) Having recently completed a European tour before the pandemic, Al had also just won the Shrewsbury Folk Festival open mic competition and performed twice at the 2022 festival - selling out of CDs! Now booked for Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2024! 2020-2021 saw four self-produced releases from Al, which are available on all music providers, along with his self-titled debut album. Whether it’s a private function, wedding or pub / club gig - Al can perform solo, as a duo or with his incredible power trio. “Al is Set for BIG things” BBC Bristol.

Al O’Kane is a rare breed of guitarist - one equally accomplished solo with his acoustic, in the guise of a bluesy singer-songwriter, or kicking out the jams with his band, tearing through a set of barn-burning Rock’n’Roll! He ploughs a deep furrow of integrity and graft, and having booked him numerous times, I can attest he never fails to deliver.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Let me know as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to make it work.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, that’s fine, but it would be preferable if you brought your own iPod with a playlist you’ve created in advance for the day.

How much time do you need to set up?

At least 1.5 hours before you’d like the music to start.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
