About Aisha Khan group

Aisha Khan is a sophisticated, authentic and outstanding performer of 1940's and 50's American Roots music.
Jazz band
London
Public liability insurance of £1 million

Aisha Khan sings American roots music, Jazz, Blues and Rhythm & Blues of the 1940’s/50’s. With a nod to the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era and over 25 years of experience, coupled with an unrivalled passion for the music, she combines outstanding original material with powerful cover versions and performs them all with class, soul, talent and wit. Equal Parts sultry Jazz chanteuse and Rhythm and Blues belter, Aisha easily communicates heartbreak, joy and a range of emotions in between, continuing to honour the tradition of the true Divas. Aisha’s earliest influences incorporated everything from Elvis and Sarah Vaughan to Billy Bragg and Northern Soul. Naturally drawn to London’s incendiary Rockabilly club scene, she felt the irresistible pull of black American Rhythm & Blues as a call to action, setting up her first band Tiger Lily and the Jitterbugs, with which she performed throughout the UK and Europe for several years at Jazz, Blues and Rock & Roll festivals, clubs and events. She also performed at many private events, including supporting Dame Shirley Bassey before Prince Charles at Highgrove. Subsequently, she was the first vocalist with the 10 piece big band, Blue Harlem performing Swing and Jump Jive. She has sung with Richard Berry, James Hunter and Mike Sanchez, amongst others. She is currently working in England and Europe with ongoing Projects in Spain and London. Recent performances include events with the Aisha Khan R&B Revue, Blue Harlem, Cherry Casino & the Gamblers, Robert Gordon and the Barcelona Big Blues Band with Paul Ansell. Her debut solo album on El Toro records is now available on digital download and CD. Titled ‘Aishaddiction’, it’s packed full of stunning original material ranging from Doo Wop to Calypso and features outstanding musicianship plus special guests! Aisha is an accomplished songwriter and currently has songs recorded and released by Japanese and Spanish Roots Music artists. She is also involved with specialist record labels writing biographies and liner notes for many different compilations and releases, in addition to writing music articles.

Speakeasy Entertainment has been working with Aisha for over 6 years. We quickly realized her band is an absolute gem in the world of London live music and included Aisha & Rajahs in Oriole's monthly regulars. Once we opened Nightjar Carnaby which has a smaller stage we were also very eager to hear she could perform in a trio. The performances are a perfect blend of sophistication and entertainment and create an unforgettable atmosphere. Thanks to Aisha's magnetism she connects with the audience whether it's a regular evening, private event, or NYE. Aisha & her Rajahs are not only incredibly skilled but also highly professional, making the entire booking process seamless and stress-free. You can count on them being on time and always dressing appropriately for their performances. If you are looking for a female lead band that makes everyone stomp their feet I wholeheartedly recommend booking this talented group.

We invited Aisha Khan back to the Verdict because her first performance was such a success. this time she performed with her new show For Adults Only, which was a collection of risque Jazz and Blues from the 1940's to the 50's. Aisha has a wonderful, authentic voice and looks the part of a glamorous diva. she interacts beautifully with the audience, who adore her. We are already looking forward to having her back at the Verdict Jazz club, where she gathers new fans with every visit.

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Absolutely yes.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we have a variety of options. All options include vocals but we can do from a duo upwards to a big band and anywhere in between. We have access to a range of excellent and experienced musicians. Duos would be vocals with either guitar or piano. For a trio, we would add acoustic bass, then for a quartet we add drums. After that we start to add horns etc.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know and we will do our best to accomodate any changes. Please give us as much notice as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Sorry, not at the moment, though it's something we are looking at for the future.

How much time do you need to set up?

Ideally we would like to set up between 1-1.5 hours before the guests/audience arrive.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event, with a couple of tweaks if need be.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA and lighting is not included in our quotes. We can supply a PA but it would be at extra cost.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The feedback we've often received is that people love the quality of the music and vocals and the authenticity of what we do. They also enjoy the atmosphere we create and the presentation of the whole act.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The list is long! everywhere from Highgrove to festivals and clubs all over Europe.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We love all the great classic Jazz and Blues singers, especially wome like Bille Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Ruth Brown and Lavern Baker. There are many more we adore!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Before Prince Charles and Camilla PB at Highgrove.
